Stockholm Business Region @ MIPIM 2025
Stockholm RE:THINK

The world is amid a shift that requires new thinking and decisive action. The challenges we face are real, but so are the opportunities.
The world is amid a shift that requires new thinking and decisive action. The challenges we face are real, but so are the opportunities.
Stockholm is one of the most innovative regions in the world. We are recognized as having one of the best startup ecosystems globally. Our creativity and open business climate are creating world-leading innovations and rethinking urban development's future.
But it’s not just about us - it’s about what we can do together. Right now, the Stockholm region is full of investment opportunities that are reshaping the future of sustainability, €115 billion by 2040 to be precise.
At MIPIM we showcase solutions that can inspire the world. From the world’s largest wooden city project to fossil-free marine transportation and climate-smart building materials. Do you want to be part of this transformation? Re:think the future with us.

Fossil-free construction equipment and innovative building materials
Electric construction equipment offers an alternative to diesel-powered machinery by reducing emissions and noise. These machines operate on rechargeable batteries or external power sources, eliminating the need for fossil fuels on-site. Stockholm is at the forefront of adopting electric construction machinery and reducing environmental impact at sites.
- NeoLigno: NeoLigno® is a bio-based binder from Stora Enso that replaces fossilbased and harmful binders in building materials. It is entirely free from formaldehyde and isocyanates, offering a safer and more sustainable alternative for adhesives and composite materials. Through innovations like NeoLigno, Stora Enso supports the industry’s transition to more sustainable solutions.
- Cemvision: Cemvision’s solution is a combination of an alternative cement chemistry and up cycling of industrial waste processed with energy efficient electrified process. This creates a circular, high-performance cement that reduces CO2 emissions by up to 95% compared to traditional Portland cement. The company was founded in 2020 by experienced leaders and researchers from the cement industry.

Transforming waterborne transport
Candela is a Stockholm-born company that develops and manufactures electric boats with world-leading energy efficiency and sustainability that transform maritime transport and reduce its environmental impact. The hydrofoil technology reduces water resistance and extends range compared to traditional electric boats. The ferry Candela P-12 “Nova” serving Stockholm, is the first public city water transportation of its kind and an innovative solution to decrease emissions.
Fossil-free and emission-free construction sites and cutting edge proptech
The City of Stockholm and the region are spearheading sustainable development by shifting to electric construction equipment, environmentally friendly vehicles, and fossil-free contracts.
Through innovative procurement procedures and collaborative entrepreneur dialogues the city runs several construction projects e.g., the Construction site Persikan and the Stockholm Meatpacking District, adopting electric construction machinery, and reducing environmental impact at sites. Electrification of construction sites holds significant potential to reduce the overall climate emissions of the construction and building sector.
- AI-BOB: AI-BOB, founded in 2024, prevents costly construction errors by automating compliance checks. In Sweden alone, €10 billion is wasted annually due to design flaws and compliance failures. AI–BOB cuts risk and reduces manual review from months to minutes, ensuring projects meet standards before construction begins
- Devward: Devward develops building automation products aimed at increasing energy efficiency in commercial buildings. Their Smart RoomHub is a multisensor IoT device with built-in AI that analyses indoor occupancy and air quality to control temperature, ventilation, and lighting, promoting a better indoor climate and reducing energy consumption. Making buildings autonomous, intelligent and energy-efficient spaces that take care of us.
- Epishine: Epishine, founded in 2016 in Linköping, Sweden, is an energy impact company reimagining the capture of light with market-leading printed organic solar cells. Epishine’s technology captures indoor light to make electronics self-powered, making cables, disposable batteries, and unnecessary maintenance a thing of the past.
- Vyer (page in Swedish): Vyer Technologies offers a platform that allows users to create and share digital representations of building floor plans. Their service aims to make it easier to find information about indoor locations by making interior maps of buildings searchable and enriched with real-time data.
- Alrik: Alrik, founded in 2022 develops software to monitor and optimize fleet activity in the construction sector. Their platform enables supervisors to centrally manage logistics, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. In 2024, Alrik secured €1 million in seed funding from Pi Labs to expand its services across Europe.

Building the world's largest wooden city
Stockholm Wood City is a pioneering urban development project by Atrium Ljungberg, planning the world’s largest wooden city in Sickla, Stockholm. The project prioritizes sustainable construction, using wood as the primary material to reduce environmental impact and create a healthy urban environment.
